Competition || Wilson Pires from the Conrad Algarve Hotel in Quinta do Lago has won Portugal’s ‘Best Barman’ competition, after making it past three qualifying rounds and dazzling the jury with his unique cocktails. The contest was held for the first time on July 22 in Lisbon.
Pires said he was “very proud” of his achievement and is sure it will help his career, as well as bring in more clients for his employers.
As part of the award, the bartender will be going on a course at Bols Bartending Academy in Amsterdam, as well as enjoying a tour of London’s “best bars” with the UK’s ‘Best Bartender’ of last year – coincidentally another Portuguese, Pedro Paulo.
