Four of Portugal’s most Googled beaches are located in the Algarve (Praia da Rocha, Praia da Marinha, Praia da Falésia and Praia da Luz), according to a study by search engine for vacation rentals Holidu.

Praia da Rocha in Portimão leads the ranking, with 12,100 searches per month.

“It offers an excited and busy atmosphere, especially in the summer, with several water activities, impressive golden cliffs, nightlife and a lot of good food to enjoy,” Holidu says.

Lagoa’s Praia da Marinha follows in second place, also with 12,100 searches per month (Holidu says that the tiebreaking factor were the reviews and comments on Google).

“Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal and Europe by European Best Destination, it could not be left off our list. From snorkeling to kayak trips and even climbing, this is a beach filled with adventure and fun,” says Holidu.

The third most searched beach on Google is Praia da Ursa in Sintra (9,900 searches per month), described as one of the most beautiful in the region.

Praia da Comporta (Setúbal) follows in fourth place with 8,100 searches per month, famous for its “untouched natural landscape, peaceful atmosphere and charming traditional villages”.

Rounding off the top-five is Praia da Falésia in Albufeira (6,600 searches per month).

“Imagine the Grand Canyon sitting on a beach: Welcome to Praia da Falésia,” writes Holidu.

The remaining beaches on the list are Praia dos Galapinhos, Praia da Luz, Praia da Samoqueira and Praia da Ribeira do Cavalo (all with 6,600 searches per month), followed by Praia do Azibo (5,400).
