Rita Ascensão, Maria Moreno and Laura Gonçalves from Loulé-based gymnastics team Louletano Desportos Clube emerged as champions from the finals of the Maia International Acro Cup 2020 in Maia (Porto).
The event was held between March 5 and 8 in the northern town of Maia, with the Algarvian trio topping their competition in the Youth/Women’s Group category.
Their amazing performance saw them finish ahead of 76 other young trios from all corners of the world.
The Maia International Acro Cup is described as one of the biggest acrobatic gymnastics events in the world, held every year since 2007 in the first complete week of March.
This year, the event attracted over 1,300 athletes from 18 countries.
