Algarve golf course supporting Jake’s  US surgery

A golf club is offering reduced green fees in January and February to raise funds for a young British boy with Cerebral Palsy.

Colina Verde Golf and Country Club in Moncarapacho will donate all proceeds to Jake Storr, a regular visitor to the Algarve who needs an operation in order to advance his ability to walk.

The operation, Selective Dorsol Rhizotomy, can only be done in the United States at a cost of 40,000 sterling pounds.

Because of his age, funds need to be raised to enable Jake to have the operation by March 2010.

Colina Verde is offering golfers nine holes of golf for 10 euros and 18 holes of golf for 20 euros.

The reduced green fee offer will start on January 1 and run until February 28, 2010 and all the proceeds will go towards Jake’s cause.

Mike Henchi from Colina Verde Golf and Country Club told the Algarve Resident: “When I saw the article in the Algarve Resident (November 27), I just thought that we had to do something to help. I approached my boss Paul Nagle with the idea of opening Colina Verde golf course for the month of January with the reduced green fees to be donated to Jake. But to my surprise he suggested that we include February as well!”

Jake has a Facebook group called Support Jake Walking where people can become members and there is a link to the Paypal account especially set up for donations towards Jake’s operation.
