Members of Quinta do Lago Golf Club celebrated breast cancer awareness month by holding a “pink” charity day on Sunday, raising over €4,400 for a local cancer charity.
The beneficiary was “The Challenge”, a fundraising initiative set up by Robin Thomson, the local GP in Quinta do Lago, and Andrea Viegas, a local lawyer, with the aim of providing palliative care to patients and their families as they tackle cancer treatment.
Club Captain Terry Williams said: “We are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause and our members, as usual, rallied round. We are also grateful to Quinta do Lago who provided complimentary rounds to our guests and to the Conrad Spa for all of their support.”
Rob Thomson from the Family Medical Centre said: “The funds raised really will make a difference to some very vulnerable people in the local community.”
