Algarve-raised centre-back Tiago Ilori has completed a loan move to Spanish club Granada, where he will remain until the end of the season in the hope of getting regular action on the field.
llori signed for one of the biggest and most charismatic English football clubs, Liverpool FC, last summer.
The 20-year-old, who has played for the Portuguese National Team at U18, U19 and U20 level, was sold to the Reds by Sporting Lisbon for €7.5 million as part of a deal confirmed on September 2.
But despite his talent, the number of quality alternatives for his position (Kolo Touré, Daniel Agger, Mamadou Sakho, and Martin Skrtel) made it impossible to secure a spot in the first team. Indeed, he failed to make a single appearance for Brendan Rodger’s side.
Ilori will now spend the rest of the season with Granada, currently sitting in 10th position in the Spanish league.
