Algarve festival welcomes virtuosos

PORTUGAL’S FIRST Lady, Maria Cavaco Silva, was present at the inaugural concert of the 29th Algarve Music International Festival on April 6.

The Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon performed to a delighted audience at the Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, and set the tone for the rest of the music festival. In total, there will be 13 concerts by more than 200 national and international artists, in different locations across the Algarve.

April 27 – Peterson Quartet, Cine-Teatro Louletano, Loulé

April 28 – Peterson Quartet, Igreja Matriz de Alvor, Portimão.

May 3 – Virtuosos of St. Petersburg, Centro Cultural António Aleixo, Vila Real de Santo António.

May 4 – Virtuosos of St. Petersburg, Lagos Cultural Centre.

May 5 – Ute Lemper, Teatro das Figuras, Faro.

May 18 – Camareta Antiqua de Curitiba choir, Igreja Matriz de Alvor, Portimão.

May 19 – Camareta Antiqua de Curitiba choir, Teatro das Figuras, Faro.

May 20 – Camareta Antiqua de Curitiba choir, Centro Cultural António Aleixo, Vila Real de Santo António.

June 1 – Orchestra of the Algarve and Algarve Theatre Company (ACTA) – Amadeus Wolfgang Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor (The Impresario), Teatro das Figuras, Faro.

June 9 – Medley of orchestras from around Portugal, Teatro das Figuras, Faro.
