Algarve features in national gastronomy festival

The Algarve is currently taking part in Santarém’s 34th National Gastronomy Festival, which is running until November 2 and has the Mediterranean Diet as one of its main themes.
Dedicated to showcasing the best food the region has to offer, the regional tourism board (RTA) invited Faro’s Tasca Rasca restaurant to prepare a series of regional delights for the Algarve’s stall.
As we went to press, Chef José Niza from Tertúlia Algarvia was set to hold a culinary demonstration on Wednesday (October 22) to present ‘Tomatada de Cherne e Amêijoa da Ria Formosa’ – a fish and seafood delicacy from Ria Formosa in a rich tomato sauce.
The Algarve’s stall will also feature an exhibition on the Mediterranean Diet as well as all sorts of promotional material.
The region will be joined by a number of other exhibitors from all over Portugal.
