LOCAL RESIDENT David Reid, known to his friends as Irish Dave, has been revealed as a paedophile.
The Belfast-born joiner is well-known among residents in Carvoeiro due to his regular gigs, singing and playing guitar at The Round-Up Saloon and Jailhouse.
He had aparently abused his four daughters and son over a period of 16 years and was confronted by reporters from the News of the World after a recent performance in Carvoeiro.
Reid, 56, who was jailed for three years for indecent assault and gross indecency, never had to reveal his whereabouts since as he was released before the Sex Offenders Register was introduced in the UK.
His children have been working with the Sunday newspaper to discover his whereabouts and reveal his identity to the public, therefore ensuring that people are aware about the continuing danger they believe he poses to children.
Another local resident recognized him from a photograph published in a previous story and contacted the newspaper.
Despite admitting details of his past, Reid has refused to admit that he abused his five children.
Locals, including members of The Resident staff, who knew Reid well, are shocked at the revelations.
