Portugal has brought home over 20 awards from the European edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA), including the title of Europe’s Leading Beach Destination once again for the Algarve. The winners were revealed this Friday (October 22).
Other awards went to the Azores Islands which were named Europe’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, while the Madeira Islands were hailed Europe’s Leading Island Destination.
Arouca’s famous Passadiços de Paiva walkways were awarded the titles of Leading Adventure Tourism Attraction and Leading Tourism Development Project.
Lisbon was also among the victors, having seen its cruise port named the Leading Cruise Port in Europe, while national airline TAP was named the top airline to Africa and South America.
Meanwhile, hotels and resorts all over Portugal were also awarded.
In the Algarve, Vila Vita Parc in Porches was hailed Europe’s Leading Luxury Hotel & Villas, while Vilamoura’s Lake Spa Resort was named the Leading Luxury Lifestyle Resort. Elsewhere in the region, Almancil’s Dunas Douradas Beach Club was dubbed Europe’s Leading Luxury Resort & Villas and Cascade Wellness Resort in Lagos was given the title of Leading Sports Resort.
Sagres’ Martinhal Resort was named Europe’s Leading Villa Resort, while Monte Santo Resort in Carvoeiro and Conrad Algarve in Almancil were named Europe’s Most Romantic Resort and Europe’s Leading Lifestyle Resort, respectively.
