Algarve Cup celebrates 21 years

The 21st Women’s Algarve Cup is only four weeks away with World Cup champions Japan once again looking strong.
Globally, women’s football is one of the fastest growing participation sports and with top ranked sides such as USA and Sweden also taking part, there is sure to be some great action.
The Algarve Cup 2014 takes place between March 5 and 12 at venues across the Algarve region with the final taking place at the Algarve Stadium in Faro.
Other participants are Iceland, China, Norway, Germany, Denmark, Portugal, Austria, Russia and Northern Ireland.
Female referees and assistant referees from 31 different countries have been selected for this prestigious tournament, which is also part of the preparation for the prospective candidate referees and assistant referees for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.
