Algarve Chefs Week returns this month

Algarve Chefs Week, the event celebrating the best cuisine on offer in the region, is returning this month for its second edition.

The event kicks off with a special display of cooking mastery at the new terminal area of Faro airport tomorrow (Saturday), when participating chefs, eight in total, will be on hand to demonstrate their skills to passengers.

From 5pm, passengers will have the opportunity to try some of the dishes on offer as well as obtain information about the Algarve Chefs Weeks, which is taking place officially from May 25 to June 2.

The festival will be celebrating gourmet cuisine in the Algarve by presenting some of the chefs’ signature dishes in five star settings but at affordable prices to diners. It is hoped that the event will be an opportunity for diners who may not have experienced a similar meal in the past to do so now.

Menus created for the Algarve Chefs Week will be exclusive and served in the evenings only, between 7.30pm and 10.30pm. Cost per person is €30 across all the restaurants with children aged between three and 10 benefitting from a 50% discount. One euro from the €30 paid will be donated to the CASA charity in Faro which supports underprivileged people in the Algarve.

Nuno Aires, marketing director at Longevity Wellness Resort Monchique, said: “This type of event contributes greatly to the development and internationalisation of gastronomy within the Algarve and to the region as a destination for quality gastronomy.”

The event, which is open to all, is being supported by the Algarve Tourism Board, TAP Air Portugal, ANA Aeroportos, Essential Magazine, Algarve Resident and Quinta do Barranco Longo.
