Algarve Chefs Week returns for third event

The Algarve Chefs Week, the culinary event which aims to show the best food the Algarve has to offer, is returning this month for its third edition.

Eight luxury hotels, eight top restaurants, and eight executive chefs will be brought together, from May 11 to 18, to create an unforgettable experience which, in its past editions, has been widely praised.

On May 9, to start off the event and to serve as the event’s promotion, the Executive chefs will be serving passengers who will disembark from their flights in the International Faro Airport, between 3pm and 7pm. The chefs will be offering “tasters” of exclusive local dishes to their guests, while also showing off their culinary skills.

The festival will celebrate the Algarve’s gourmet cuisine by presenting the chef’s signature dishes at affordable prices to diners, some of whom may not be accustomed to this kind of dining.

The menus were created solely by the participating Chefs and will be available only for dinner, between 7.30pm and 10.30pm. The menus will cost €30, excluding drinks. Out of the total price of the meal, €1 will be donated to the CASA charity in Faro which supports underprivileged people in the Algarve.

The climax of the Algarve Chefs Week will occur at a lunch offered by the eight hotels to the less privileged individuals helped by the CASA charity group.

This event, which is aimed not only at the guests of the hotels, but also at Algarve residents, is supported by ERTA (regional tourist entity of the Algarve), ANA Airports and Quinta do Barranco Longo.

The Algarve Coast is the main inspiration of the Executive Chefs in this edition and it influenced the exclusive menus, which contain some of the best products of the sea and of the region, created by the following Chefs:

■ Cristiano de Martin – Restaurante Louro, Hotel Conrad Algarve;

■ Luís Mourão – Restaurante Al Quimia, Hotel EPIC SANA Algarve;

■ André Simões – Restaurante Cilantro, Hilton Vilamoura;

■ Dominique Lienhard – Restaurante Green Pines, Pestana Vila Sol;

■ Osvalde Silva – Restaurante O Grill, Pine Cliffs Residence;

■ Jean François Brouck – Restaurante O Pescador, Sheraton Algarve Hotel;

■ Ricardo Ferreira, Restaurante Pepper´s Steakhouse, Hotel Tivoli Marina Vilamoura;

■ Bruno Rocha, Restaurante EMO, Hotel Tivoli Victoria.

Table reservations are recommended and should be booked in advance through the participating restaurants and hotels.
