Algarve chefs team up for Christmas charity dinner

Fourteen chefs from some of the Algarve’s finest luxury hotels are joining forces for the fifth edition of the Algarve Chefs Week Charity Christmas Dinner, to be held on Friday, December 13 at the Centro de Congressos do Algarve in Vilamoura at 8pm.

This year the proceeds from the night will go to CATRAIA, which provides a shelter for neglected children in Portimão, and APPC, the Portuguese Association of Cerebral Palsy.

The menu, which features an “interesting combination of typical Christmas ingredients with Algarve ingredients”, has been created by 14 chefs: Adérito Almeida, André Simões, Bruno Augusto, Bruno Viegas, David Domingues, Diogo Pereira, José Botelho, José Leitão, Luís Batalha, Luís Rosário, Miguel Lourenço, Vítor Monteiro, Vítor Moreira and Wilson Costa.

For starters, guests will be able to try smoked free-range chicken breast served on a bed of “Algarvian and oriental flavours” before moving onto the main fish dish which will be codfish served with a coriander ‘xerém’ (traditional corn porridge) and vegetables.

The menu also includes a pork pie accompanied by pumpkin, beats, sweet potatoes, peanuts and salsa before dessert is served – a decadent milk chocolate and spices mousse with raspberries.

But there will be more to enjoy. The night will begin with a welcome cocktail and will feature a performance by Francisco Mousinho, a magician who made it to the finals of ‘Got Talent Portugal’ in 2016. The entertainment programme also includes performances by singer-songwriter Ernesto Leite and Rádio Comercial radio host Ana Isabel Arroja as well as by União das Tribos.

Tickets, costing €30, can be purchased at Anantara Vilamoura, Cascade Resort, Conrad Algarve, Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas, Hotel Vilamonte, Monte Santo Resort, Tivoli Carvoeiro, Tivoli Marina Vilamoura and Vale d’Oliveiras or at the CATRAIA headquarters in Portimão and the APPC headquarters in Faro.
