Algarve charities to benefit from increased restaurant visitors

Portimão || It was a success last year – bringing residents and tourists flocking to local restaurants – and now it will be back in September, with some new tricks up its sleeve.
Portimão’s Rota do Petisco (Tapas Route) involves dozens of local restaurants, and offers a variety of typical Algarvean dishes and desserts at very accessible prices.
Developed by the Teia D’Impulsos association with backing from the local council, the route also includes an entertainments programme, with concerts, street theatre, dance shows, art exhibitions, workshops, and wine and food tastings.
This year’s event, to start on September 5 and run until October 12, sees two innovations – the traditional ‘grocer’s route’, aimed at promoting Portimão’s old-style grocers, and the children’s route, which will feature menus created especially for the younger crowd.
‘Rota do Petisco’ is also known for the money it raises for charity. A total of €9,000 was made last year and organisers hope to do even better this time round.
Charities hoping to benefit can still contact Teia D’Impulsos, as well as restaurants or other establishments who would like to take part.
