Algarve caviar

Faro-based company Caviar Portugal hopes to produce caviar in the Algarve in the near future as a way of boosting the local economy.

The idea put forward by the company is to grow four different types of sturgeon in a closed, intensive aqua farming regime, including threatened species of the fish.

However, the project will only go ahead if the required licensing is granted and funding to the tune of 1.5 million euro is found. Tavira is being earmarked for the project.
