Algarve businesswoman raises €4,500 for charity

Well-known Algarve business woman Janet Tartaglia raised €4,500 for the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF) by hosting a charity event at the Hilton Hotel in Vilamoura on July 19.
The main purpose of the evening was to raise much-needed funds for the charity, with various businesses and individuals contributing a selection of items, including art, holiday accommodation, rounds of golf, signed books and cookery courses, amongst others. Some of these were auctioned off, whilst others were used as raffle prizes.
Inspired by Scott Neeson’s story, founder of CCF, Janet said she is ‘giving up’ her life to join the team in Phnom Penh in Cambodia, and added she was delighted at the support she received from everyone, especially event’s sponsors.
The formal part of the evening commenced with a short video followed by a heart moving speech, in which the businesswoman claimed she “felt honored and privileged” to meet her first Cambodian at the event, a student that is on a work placement in Faro.
Her message was that everyone can contribute: people can donate, sponsor a child, volunteer or share the news.
The mission of the Cambodian Children’s Fund is to break cycles of poverty and abuse and to create positive change in Cambodia through intervention and education for the most impoverished and under-served children and families.
