Algarve Bowlers turn up the heat

Thursday, January 17 was a bright, clear day but cold for the beginning of the second half of our Super 10’s competition.

Pedras won six points from Floresta who took two points; Albufeira and Valverde both shared the points with four each; and Alvor won six points from Balaia who won two points. These results change the table slightly: Albufeira now hold the top slot with 38 points, Floresta have slipped slightly to second place with 36 points and Valverde chasing closely behind on 33 points. Alvor are the strongest team holding up the table on 17 points. Early days for this competition, with all to play for.

Saturday, January 19 dawned damp, cold and cloudy. Most games escaped the showers which were drawing in, the rain really developed later in the day, thankfully.

Floresta Rangers lost all their matches against team-mates Floresta Foresters who won all eight points; Valverde Vulcans won six points against team-mates Valverde Vipers who won two points; Pedras Panthers shared the points with Alvor Scorpions, each taking four points, whilst Albufeira Cats took all eight points from Tavira Tigers.

This does not significantly change the top of League A, with Valverde Vulcans at the top, with 56 points, Floresta Foresters chasing closely on 47 points, and Albufeira Cats closing on 43 points. The strongest team holding up the league from the bottom is Tavira Tigers on 23 points.

League B saw Alvor Rooks losing all their matches to team-mates Alvor Greens taking eight points; Alvor Amigos won all eight points from Balaia Pods; Valverde Vikings won all eight points from Floresta Huntsmen, whilst Balaia Whalers were the resting team this week.

League B Table now has Alvor Amigos and team-mates Alvor Greens at the top both on 38 points, with Valverde Vikings following closely behind on 34 points. Alvor Rooks are the strongest team in this league on 21 points.

The penultimate Cameron Cup competition game is to take place on Tuesday, January 22.
