Algarve beaches receive facelift

Salema’s degraded concrete beach ramp underwent repair work by Vila do Bispo Câmara earlier this month to enable fishermen to use it again.

According to a Câmara spokesman, “when the sea was rough, the degraded ramp made it impossible for fishermen to access the sea with their boats.”

Meanwhile, Silves Câmara contracted cleaning company Varitar between February 3 and 5 to clean Armação de Pêra beach and Praia Grande of the debris and rubbish left behind from winter storms.

“Following this intervention, beach cleaning will take place once a week until the start of the bathing season. During the summer, cleaning will take place daily,” said Silves Câmara.
