It was the only Portuguese beach to make the list
Praia da Falésia in Olhos de Água, Albufeira has been singled out as one of the 25 best beaches in the world by TripAdvisor.
The beach is placed 12th and is praised for its “gorgeous red sand cliffs,” which lead to “the green-blue ocean and a white sand beach that seemingly stretches forever.”
Praia da Falésia was the only Portuguese beach to make the top 25, which is led by Grace Bay Beach located on the island of Provenciales.
TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice awards are held every year and are based on reviews and ratings collected over the past 12 months.
“So our Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best winners are decided by you: real travelers from all over, sharing real opinions and stories,” the website says.
There are five categories, each featuring its own top 25: beaches, destinations, hotels, restaurants and things to do.
Portugal’s only other representative in the 2023 Travelers’ Choice is Quinta Jardins do Lago in Funchal (Madeira archipelago), which is placed 17th on the hotel top 25.
