Algarve accordionist wins international prize in France

Luís Mira, an accordion student at the Lagoa Music Conservatory, has been awarded first place in the Júnior Variété category of the 67th World Trophy Accordion.

The event, which every year brings together and awards the world’s best accordionists, was held between October 23 and 29 in Onet-le-Château, France.

Mira was born in Lagoa and studies at the academy under the guidance of his teacher Gonçalo Pescada.

“This accolade will strengthen the international exposure the students of the academy have been gaining abroad and award the work of the student and his professor,” said the academy, which also congratulated everyone else who “contributed to this excellent result”.
