THE ALGARVE tourist Association (ATA) will be promoting the region at Barcelona’s EIBTM, the global meetings and incentives exhibition between November 27 and 29.
The EIBTM has become known as one of the leading exhibitions for conference, incentives, events, business travel and meetings industries. The Algarve will be well represented, according to a spokesperson at the ATA, who said that the focus will be in the promotion of the region as a business travel destination with state of the art conference centres including the recently constructed Pavilhão Arade, in Parchal, Lagoa.
Opportunities
More than 3,000 suppliers and 6,000 professionals from several industries in search of new business opportunities will be at the EIBTM, and the ATA hopes that it will be able to compete with the Spanish market and even attract business people from across the border to come to the Algarve.
Throughout this week, the ATA has also been promoting the region at the World Travel Market trade fair in London, which is recognised as one of the most significant travel industry congresses in the world.
Part of the ATA’s mission for the trade fair was to make new contacts and promote the Algarve as a consistently top destination, said a spokesperson.
The UK continues to be the most significant tourist market for the Algarve, representing 58.6 per cent of the total holiday makers in the region, with an average stay of 6.3 nights.
