THE PORTUGUESE national association for nature conservation, Quercus, is developing plans to introduce protective measures along the Portuguese coastline, particularly in the Alentejo region, due to the introduction of mass tourist property projects there. These projects have placed unprecedented pressure and danger on the ecosystems of the Alentejo coastline, causing great concern among conservationists.
