Eager hikers will have to wait until April to take part in Alcoutim’s walking festival (Festival de Caminhadas), which was due to take place last weekend but had to be postponed due to the bad weather. It will now take place between April 6 and 8.
The decision was made due to forecasts of “heavy rain, lightening, strong winds and a 60% possibility of tornadoes forming”, said organisers.
Not only was the weather considered a safety hazard for hikers, but the natural beauty of the trails would not have been enjoyed to the fullest, and activities planned such as picnics, birdwatching or walks with shepherds would be difficult.
Contact the council if you want to reserve your spot in April or request more information.
