Alcoutim to get new motorhome park by April 2021

Alcoutim Council has announced plans to build a new motorhome park in the town.

It is expected to be completed by April 30, 2021 and involve a €150,000 investment, with €105,000 of the sum being covered by community funding.

The park will be located on Avenida José Maria Mendes Amaral on a 3,000sqm plot of land and will have a capacity for 25 motorhomes. It will also boast a “support building, a service station and eight public parking spots”.

In a communiqué sent out to the press, the council says that the motorhome park will help “attract and welcome visitors” to the small town whilst also bolstering the local economy.

The bid for funding was made through the PADRE programme.

The announcement came just one week after Algarve’s tourism board (RTA) launched a new campaign encouraging motorhomers to park up at official camp and caravan sites (click here) in a bid to bring an end to illegal camping and parking.

There are around 30 sites in the Algarve where motorhomers can legally park, including campsites, motorhome parks and service areas, all of which can be found online at www.autocaravanalgarve.com
