A bike lane is due to be built in Alcoutim on the road leading to the Cadavais stream and local river beach, the local council has announced.
The project is moving forward following the approval of a bid for funding via the EU’s FEDER programme.
Works are expected to cost just over €113,000 (more than €18,000 of which will be covered by community funding) and be completed by the end of 2021.
The lane will have separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians, who will now have a much safer track to use.
Parking spots for bikes and street furniture are also due to be installed along the lane.
