Lessons designed for foreigners wishing to learn or perfect their Portuguese
Alcoutim Council is organising free Portuguese lessons aimed at foreign residents who would like to learn or perfect their knowledge of the Portuguese language.
The first lesson was held on Tuesday (March 15) and attracted 23 people of seven nationalities aged between 29 and 72.
“Attracted by the sun, culture and lifestyle, there are many foreigners living in the municipality of Alcoutim,” local mayor Osvaldo Gonçalves said.
“Their lack of knowledge of the language could hinder the integration of these new residents, thus the need to move forward with this initiative.”
The lessons take place at Escola Básica Integrada de Alcoutim (primary school) every Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 7pm. Those interested in signing up can contact the local council’s office of social action, health and education ([email protected]).
