Alcoutim cuts

Alcoutim Câmara has announced that it will be “fighting the economic crisis” with budget cuts across the municipality.

In a statement, the Câmara says that the budget for the municipality has been cut by €700,000 by the government, the equivalent of around 35% of the total budget.

Câmara president Francisco Amaral said: “We will need to tighten our belts and will be looking at cutting funding to mainly social and sporting activities.”

Other measures to cut costs include the Câmara cutting overtime and advertising and general expenditure reductions.
