Alcoutim and MEO join forces for better broadband

Alcoutim council and telecommunications giant MEO have signed a deal in which they agree to “carry out efforts to increase fibre optic coverage in the borough”. In other words, they want the municipality to boast better broadband.

The goal, they say, is to “benefit the population and local companies, making the borough more technologically qualified”.

MEO says it will, “wherever possible, provide access to its conduit system so that the municipality can develop optical fibre connections to municipal buildings or other projects of public interest”.

In return, the council will allow MEO access to its network of underground conduits and pipes to enable fibre optic cables to spread through the municipality.
