In a bid to “give something back to the community”, The Indian Sizzler restaurant in Albufeira will be serving free take-away vegetarian lunches between 11am and 12.30pm this Saturday and the next (November 21 and 28).
“It is our wish to spread some warm cheer as we will be going into partial lockdown in the council of Albufeira,” the restaurant announced on its Facebook page this week.
The Indian Sizzler is normally only open for dinner from 6pm and has never opened for lunch. But due to the weekend curfews that will be in place in Albufeira and seven other boroughs in the Algarve starting at 1pm, it will be making an exception.
The plan is to serve at least 100 take-away vegetarian lunches for free.
“It will be a full meal, with a drink, salad and dessert,” The Indian Sizzler owner Jay told the Resident. “I want to do something to keep spirits high and give something back to this community.”
As she pointed out, there will be no catch.
“All you have to do is turn up and collect your delicious lunch.”
The Indian Sizzler is located at Bellavista Comercial, just above McDonalds.
