Local council says it is already considered “one of the best in the country”
A new “mini half pipe” skate ramp was inaugurated in Albufeira on Sunday, November 5.
Located at Parque Vale Faro (near the Vale Faro ETAR wastewater treatment station), the new skate ramp can be used for a wide range of extreme sports and, according to the municipal council, is “already considered one of the best in the country”.
The ramp is 1.8 metres high, 7.5 metres wide and 10 metres long, occupying a total area of 75 square metres near the park’s new 3×3 basketball court and five-a-side football field.
According to Albufeira Mayor, José Carlos Rolo, the skate ramp is part of the municipality’s strategy to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle amongst local youngsters.
Indaleta Cabrita, the President of Albufeira and Olhos de Água Parish Council, also celebrated the new skate ramp, stressing that “it belongs” now to the local youth, while Albufeira Deputy Mayor, Cristiano Cabrita, highlighted that the skate ramp is open to everyone all year long.
In the future, the skate ramp is expected to also host competitions, meetings and other events.
