Albufeira’s transport system is being overhauled with the creation of three new urban bus routes. The decision to launch a tender for the new routes, valued at 852,000 euros, was approved at a recent câmara meeting.
A fleet of eight 30-seater coaches will run on the three routes, to be known as the red line, green line and blue line. The service is forecast to begin operating on August 20 and will be available all year, between 7am and 10pm, running at half-hourly intervals. Between June and September, the last service will be at midnight.
The câmara has also approved other improvements in the city, including construction of 40 bus shelters, a new parking area for the market and improvements to the train service.
