Albufeira Sounds Sunset attracts 50,000

Electronic music festival took place between June 8 and 10

Albufeira Council has announced that around 50,000 people attended Albufeira Sounds Sunset, an electronic music festival which took place at the beachside square Praça dos Pescadores between June 8 and 10.

Dominican-American house music DJ Roger Sanchez was the star performer of the first night and brought his “beats and sounds of deep, tech and roots house” to Albufeira. The remaining line-up for the opening day included Yves Larock, Westvil, and Pippa who “filled the stage with their vibrant rhythms that got everyone dancing.”

Belgian DJ Mark Ursa headlined the event on the next day, following performances by Henrique Pontes, Gonzalez, and Jay Martin.

The event came to a close on June 10 with a performance by Diego Miranda, one of Portugal’s most successful DJs, after three performances by local artists DJ China, Zé Black, and Alex Morais.

Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo said that Albufeira Sounds Sunset, like Sea Fest, is an “event that aims to show visitors the best that we have to offer, where local, national and international artists have an opportunity to shine with the sea as the backdrop at one of the town’s most iconic beaches: Praia dos Pescadores.”

Deputy mayor Cristiano Cabrita added that the one of the local council’s goals is to “value and promote the best-known artists of the country as well as of our town.”

The event was organised by the local council alongside W Algarve Hotel, and sponsored on the last two days by Portuguese gin brand Black Pig.
