FOR THE first time ever, Albufeira Câmara will be present at MITT, Moscow’s International Travel and Tourism Fair, that takes place from March 23 to March 26 in the Russian capital. Over recent years, the event has established itself as one of the most important travel-trade fairs in northern Europe and, this year, MITT expects to boast 3,000 exhibitors from 110 countries and welcome more than 120,000 visitors. In 2003, the Russian travel market represented close to 20 million tourists and a total of around two million holiday packages were sold. The market is considered to have a good potential for growth and, through its participation in the exhibition, Albufeira is clearly hoping for “a piece of the action”.
Considerable effort is being put into promoting Albufeira as a holiday destination as it has also been announced that the borough will be represented at Berlin’s world famous ITB event (International Tourism Exchange) which takes place from March 11 to March 15.
