Albufeira promoted abroad

Albufeira tourism association, APAL, attended MATKA, the main tourism fair in Helsinki, Finland, from January 20 to 24.

A spokesman from APAL said: “The tourism market in Scandinavia, although small in comparison with the British or German, is a market with great potential for the region.”

APAL established contacts with Finnish tourism operators and feels there has been a good response.

“The great obstacle to the development of this market is the lack of regular air routes, but all efforts will be made to change this situation and provide the region with more flights from Finland and the rest of the Scandinavian countries,” added the spokesman.

Meanwhile, APAL was also present at Fitur in Madrid from January 19 to 23 to promote Albufeira as an important tourist destination and to make contacts with Spanish tourism authorities.

Albufeira Mayor Desidério Silva said: “These tourism fairs provide good opportunities for the city of Albufeira to find alternatives for its tourism market.”
