“This is an event that has gained fans of all ages, not only from Albufeira but from other parts of the Algarve,” says Albufeira Mayor José Carlos Rolo. “Although Halloween is not traditionally a Portuguese celebration, it is already considered a large-scale event in Albufeira and has a positive effect on the local economy during the low tourism season.”
The main festivities will take place at Largo Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco, starting at 8pm with live performances, face painting and Halloween parades.
One of the highlights promises to be the performance by Soul Association, a local dance group which will present its latest show, entitled ‘Freak Show’. There will also be performances by DJ China and Lo-Fi.
For those who prefer a more different experience, Albufeira is once again hosting its ‘Spooky Run’, a nighttime Halloween race organised by Clube Desportivo Areias S. João. Registrations can be made online.
