In his New Year message, Albufeira Mayor thanked local associations, business people and entrepreneurs for their help in the development of the council.
Desidério Silva said the council will continue to invest in sport, education, social solidarity, culture and tourism, among others, in 2010.
Among the main projects for the council are the installation of sanitation infrastructures in the Canais area, underground high tension lines in Alto dos Caliços, the redevelopment of Montechoro from Avenida Sá Carneiro up to Oura and renovation work to the bullring.
Tourism and culture will be boosted by the construction of the Barrocal Museum in Paderne and an auditorium in Albufeira.
