Albufeira is the fifth most searched-for New Year’s destination by Portuguese people using travel website Trivago.
The town has a huge party in store, headed by a much-anticipated concert by Angolan singer Anselmo Ralph.
The only venues topping Albufeira in New Year’s search numbers by Portuguese are Porto, Lisbon, Paris and London. Madrid, Funchal (Madeira), Covilhã, Amsterdam and Barcelona complete the top-10.
In terms of foreigners, it is the Italians, Spanish, German and French who lead searches for Portuguese New Year destinations, with Lisbon, Porto, Funchal and Albufeira among their favourites.
