For three days, Albufeira became “the capital of wine” when it hosted the prestigious ‘5th Grande Mostra de Vinhos de Portugal’, an event dedicated exclusively to the promotion and tasting of Portuguese wines.
A total of 52 national producers participated in the event organised by wine lovers’ group Confraria do Bacchus de Albufeira, which was held in the multipurpose EMA from May 11 to 13.
In an attempt to broaden the enjoyment, various activities apart from the wine exhibitions, contests and tastings were organised. Daily cooking shows with esteemed chefs of the region, live radio transmissions by Kiss FM and prize draws were part of the festivities.
Albufeira Mayor José Carlos Rolo said the event is considered “one of the most prestigious by wine producers on a national level and contributes to the visibility of a municipality that, besides being the capital of tourism, is for three days the capital of wine”.
