Albufeira honours Portugal manager Paulo Bento

February 7 marks the day that Albufeira will be honouring its local athletes, coaches, clubs and associations for their efforts and achievements during the 2012/2013 season.
But this year’s ceremony has some added spice. The council has chosen to also pay tribute to two well-known personalities famous for their feats at national level – the country’s “Seleção” team manager Paulo Bento and award-winning motorcyclist Rubén Faria.
While Bento has managed to steer Portugal to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil this summer, Faria came second in the 2013 Rally Dakar – the best result ever for a Portuguese participant in the rally’s motocross category.
The ceremony, taking place at 9pm at the local sports pavilion Pavilhão Desportivo de Albufeira, is open to all-comers.
