Over 40,000 people visited the event
Albufeira has celebrated the success of the 25th edition of its Hunting, Fishing, Tourism and Nature Fair, which was held in a new and larger venue at the local marina.
The event, which took place from July 7 to July 9, featured 200 exhibitors and welcomed over 40,000 visitors.
The entertainment programme featured a wide range of activities, from exhibitions of animals, products and artefacts related to hunting and fishing to equestrian events, contests and concerts, featuring big national acts such as D.A.M.A., Miguel Gameiro and Polo Norte.
Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo believes that the event’s relocation to a “much larger area” contributed to the event’s success.
He also praised “the quality of the activities and the entertainment programme, which not only brought the best musicians from the national artistic scene to Albufeira but also provided an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work to thousands of visitors.”
“Our goal is always to improve what is already good because we believe there is always room for improvement. That’s precisely what happened here,” said Rolo.
“Albufeira is not just a destination for sun and beach; we have a very rich inland in terms of geology, nature, landscapes, and traditions that need to be preserved and promoted,” the mayor stressed, adding that the municipality is part of the project involving the inland areas of the municipalities of Albufeira, Loulé, and Silves, to create the so-called Geoparque Algarvensis, a territorial area with a “remarkable geological heritage and a candidate for UNESCO Geopark status.”
The mayor also said that the event is a way of “bringing the rural world closer to the coastal area of the municipality.
“In essence, events like this are a kind of symbiosis between the rural and coastal worlds, all under the umbrella of tourism,” he concluded.
