Albufeira firefighters have been once again hailed as “heroes” after rescuding a dog stranded on a cliff near the town’s Miradouro do Rossio viewpoint on Tuesday morning (November 8).
The animal, described as “quite old and with mobility problems,” was unharmed and safely returned to his owner, fire commander António Coelho told us.
“The dog, whose owner lives nearby, was apparently wandering around the edge of the cliff on its own and ended up falling several metres,” he said.
The rescue operation took around an hour after people at the viewpoint spotted the little animal.
A picture of the firefighting team with the dog posted on the ‘Bombeiros de Albufeira’ Facebook page yesterday has received over 150 ‘thumbs up likes’, commending them on their success.
