Albufeira firefighters call for support via ‘Heart Friday’ campaign

Albufeira’s volunteer firefighters have launched a new campaign called ‘Heart Friday’ which urges citizens to make a donation to help their local firefighting force.

The initiative is inspired by the American ‘Black Friday’ tradition and aims to “raise awareness among the population about the importance of making a contribution so that the Bombeiros can collect enough funds to keep operating,” the firefighting force says.

As the firefighters point out, the Covid-19 pandemic has led to the cancellation of several charity events which represented an “important source of revenue for the association”.

The impact that the pandemic has had on the lives of “many companies, entrepreneurs and individuals” has also prevented them from making their usual donations.

These series of events have made it “even harder” for the firefighters to maintain the “financial stability” required to operate at an optimal level.

“Any amount is welcome. Any help can make a difference,” the firefighters add.

Donations can be made via bank transfer (IBAN: PT50 0045 7012 4015 0367 3891 8)
