‘Albufeira Safe’, the town’s Covid-19 testing centre, is now also providing travel certificates for those who test negative.
The testing centre is located on Albufeira’s Rua do Município, just a stone’s throw away from the town hall. Open to “residents, tourists and travellers”, the testing centre carries out RT-PCR and antigen tests.
RT-PCR tests (price €70 per person, including travel certificate) should be booked 48 hours before a flight, with results usually being delivered 24 hours after the test. Meanwhile, antigen tests (€20 per person, including travel certificate) should be booked 24 hours before a flight, as test results are usually revealed in four hours. Antigen tests without a travel certificate are free.
Children up to the age of 10 can be tested for free and must be accompanied by a family member.
Those whose test results are positive or inconclusive will be called back for a PCR test and referred to the national health service (SNS).
Results are sent by email, while payment must be made by credit or debit card or bank transfer as cash payments are not accepted.
The testing centre, which opened in April as part of a partnership between Albufeira Council and the Algarve Biomedical Centre (ABC), is open every day between 9am and midday and 5pm and 8pm.
