ALBUFEIRA COUNCIL is offering complimentary baby massage courses over five Saturdays between September 23 and October 28, in the multi-purpose hall of the municipal swimming pool complex.
The courses, run by a qualified physiotherapist, are aimed at parents with babies aged from one month to nine months. A combination of massage techniques will be taught, which can be applied on all children, not only babies, providing many physiological benefits – children sleep better and colic can be alleviated. These massage courses also promote the emotional bonding between parents and their children, identify the benefits of touch and the use of contact as a form of aiding development, on both physical and emotional levels.
Each course comprises of two 60 minute sessions, on consecutive Saturdays. Sessions will be offered at the alternate times of 10am and 11am on September 23 and 30 and at the same times on October 21 and 28. On October 7, there are sessions at 3pm and 4pm.
