Albufeira celebrates World Tourism Day

Street entertainment, flower presentations and fado music will mark the celebrations of World Tourism Day on September 27 in Albufeira.

Visitors and residents will receive a flower in a celebration gesture of Albufeira remaining a destination choice for thousands of people.

From 6pm, Avenida Sá Carneiro will host the percussion group Toca a Bombar and at 9.30pm, Al-Mouraria fado group will take to the stage at the Municipal Auditorium to close the festivities.

September 27 was established as the World Tourism Day in 1980 by the World Tourism Organisation.

The aim is to sensitise the international community to the importance of tourism and its social values, culture, economic and political aspects.

This year’s World Tourism Day’s theme is Tourism and Biodiversity.
