PJ police are investigating the brutal beating of a 35-year-old Albufeira bartender who is fighting for his life at Faro Hospital.
Paulo Santos was attacked near a hot dog stand on Rua Infante Dom Henrique at around 6am on Sunday (September 3).
He was apparently having a snack after leaving work when he was attacked by a group of four young men, who started “punching and kicking him”.
Santos sustained “serious injuries” to his head and was “lying unconscious on the ground” when emergency services arrived, Milton Rodrigues from the local firefighters told Correio da Manhã tabloid.
An INEM emergency vehicle was called to transport the victim to Faro Hospital, where he remains in intensive care and is described as having a “very reserved prognosis”.
CM adds that the men who attacked Santos are all in their 20s and have been identified, though they have not yet been arrested.
If there is enough evidence, they could be accused of murder or attempted murder depending on whether Santos survives.
