More than 50,000 people gathered in Albufeira to welcome in 2014 during the city’s New Year’s celebrations, which have been known to be the best in the Algarve.
The end-of-year party included live music, fireworks and plenty of entertainment lasting into the early hours of January 1.
The temperature was pleasant and the programme of events was inviting, which explains why thousands chose to spend the last night of 2013 celebrating with family and friends on the Pescadores beach.
The much-awaited seafront concert was by artist Richie Campbell and The 911 Band, who got everyone dancing to hits such as That’s How We Roll, Love is An Addiction, Get With You and Whataday.
Fireworks could be enjoyed at various beach locations in Albufeira, including at Oura where a ‘Star Parade’ featuring circus artists also delighted revellers along ‘The Strip’.
The medieval festival in Paderne was again a popular end-of-year attraction, with around 10,000 people finding their way to the event to be taken back in time.
