Located near Lagos, the Michelin-starred restaurant pays tribute to local flavours
Fine dining restaurant Al Sud, located within the Palmares Ocean Living & Golf resort, near Lagos, has just celebrated the renewal of its coveted Michelin star and recently revealed a new menu for the 2023 summer season, focused on the “true tastes of the Algarve”.
Executive Chef Louis Anjos has worked with Chef Ricardo Luz for months on creating a tribute to local flavours.
Chef Anjos comments: “This new menu is a gastronomic journey. It is the reflection of a tireless search for the best that the Algarve has to offer, combined with the elegance and creativity that characterises every aspect of Al Sud and Palmares Ocean Living. Each dish was thought out in detail to deliver an unforgettable sensory experience.”
The new menu consists of 10 “moments”, with dishes such as tuna with oysters from the Alvor estuary, which diners overlook as they sit on Al Sud’s terrace. Other highlights include Oscietra caviar and cucumber, duck with foie gras, orange and carolino rice from Portugal’s Vale do Sado and a dessert celebrating Algarve almonds with muscatel and rosemary.
Al Sud’s gastronomic journey takes diners’ palates through a sophisticated selection of Portuguese meat, fish, seafood and vegetable specialities, “elevating traditional flavours to new heights”.
“We are very excited about the intrigue and elegance of the new menu at Al Sud. We are certain it will delight and surprise our visitors. The success of the restaurant – and the resort as a whole – over the last few years is testament to the hard work of our teams and to their dedication and passion for this project,” said Alda Filipe, Sales and Marketing Director, Kronos Homes, which owns the resort.
“At Palmares, we prioritise quality in every experience – from every morsel at Al Sud to every design decision in our properties. We are blending architecture, haute cuisine and passion for the art of good service into one incredible experience.”
Al Sud seats 24 diners. It opens from Wednesday to Saturday until April 4, after which it will open from Tuesday to Saturday. Visits are by reservation only.
