The 11th edition of Al-Mutamid World Music Festival will run from February 11 to 19 with shows in Albufeira, Loulé, Lagos
One of the highlights of the event is the performances of Ibn Misjan Ensemble, with musicians from Syria, Algeria and France, led by Vincent Molino, the charismatic founder of the band Radio Tarifa. Accompanied by Egyptian oriental dance, Ibn Misjan Ensemble will perform on February 11 at Albufeira Municipal Auditorium and on February 12 at Centro Cultural de Lagos.
In Loulé, the Sudanese Rasha is other musician highlighted in the festival and will perform on February 18 at Cine-Teatro Louletano.
On February 19 in the last day of the festival, Jesus Herrera y su Cuadro Flamenco will present a flamenco show in Lagoa Municipal Auditorium.
All shows are scheduled to start from 9.30pm.
Al-Mutamid festival is in honour of the king and poet Al-Mutamid. Muhammad Ibn Abbad (Al-Mutamid) was born in Beja, Alentejo, in 1040 and was appointed governor of Silves when only 12-years-old.
